Educational Visit to District Sericulture of Office, Wai, District Satara

Department of Zoology has conducted a Educational Visit to District Sericulture Office, Wai, District Satara on 20th January 2024 for of S.Y.B.Sc (Zoology) and M.Sc I & II (Zoology) students. The Visit was coordinated by Dr. Mujeeb Shaikh, Total 59 students from S.Y.B.Sc (Zoology) M.Sc I & II (Zoology) visited to District Sericulture Office, Wai, District Satara. The main aim of this visit to make students sound with the techniques sericulture to setup Sericulture Unit. Technical Assistant of the District Sericulture Office gave live demonstration to handle the silkworms and he also elaborated the life cycle, habit habitat and disease of silkworms. Hence, with this visit students experienced live demonstration of Sericulture techniques and they got the importance of this Agro based Industry with reference to both Employment and Business.

Poona College Won Gold and Silver in Zooplanet

Maaz and Muberra Made Poona College Proud Maaz Shaikh, S.Y.B.Sc. and Muberra Shaikh, M.Sc-I Zoology brought 2 gold and 3 silver medals from 'Zooplanet' Intercollegiate Competition, Organized by Nowrosejee Wadia College, Pune. Maaz won gold medals in Quiz and Seminar and silver medal in Photography. While Muberra got Silver medals in Poster and Seminar Competition. One the Success of Maaz and Muberra Principal Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Vice Principals - Mr. Moinuddin Khan and Mr. Iqbal Shaikh congratulated them for their achievements and also appreciated the efforts of Department of Zoology for grooming the tallent of students.
