National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Life Sciences”



Research should be beneficial for common man and the Nature : Prof. K. K. Sharma 


A two days national seminar was organised by Department of Zoology, Poona College on “Recent Trends in Life Sciences” under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh with the financial assitance of Savitribai Phule Pune University. The seminar was held on 4th & 5th of January 2019 and was inaugurated by Dr. Shahid Jameel (Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar award honored by Govt. of India and C.E.O. Wellcome Trust India Alliance). Dr. Shahid Jameel guided about the current research and opportunities in the field of life sciences.

The second day of the seminar was concluded by Dr. Krishna Kumar Sharma, former vice chancellor, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, Rajasthan. Prof. Sharma said, “Research should be benificial for the common man and should promote conservation of nature.” During the seminar Dr. Khedkar (Dr. BAMU, Aurangabad), Dr. Kalpana Pai (SPPU), Dr. Khalid Saifullah (Aligarh Muslim University), Dr. B.B. Nath (SPPU), Dr. R. Kshirsagar (Modern College) and Dr. Sangeeta Pandit (SPPU) guided on various sectors of life sciences. In this seminar, about 55 researchers presented their papers.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Principal of the college Dr. Rafique Sarkhawas (Advisor), Vice-Principal, Mr. Iqbal Shaikh, Prof. Moin Khan were present. All teaching, non-teaching staff and student volunteers of the department took great efforts for success of seminar.
The seminar was hosted by Prof. Noeem Quazi and vote of thanks was given by organizing Secretary Dr. Mujeeb Shaikh.
